Remarkable leather chest with the insignia of a Cardinal. The chest opens to an elaborate series of felt lined drawers.
This trunk was purchased in Parma, Italy. It features beautiful leather and gilded details. The Italian dealer informed her that this was his fist cardinals trunk he had. We love the functionality of this piece. The top being flat makes this the perfect coffee table, end of bed table, or even side table.
This 18th-century cardinal’s chest is a finely crafted storage piece, often used by members of the clergy to store vestments, documents, or religious artifacts. The leather exterior features intricate gilt detailing, including a central ecclesiastical emblem, likely signifying its owner’s high rank within the church. Such chests were symbols of authority and devotion, often accompanying cardinals in their travels or safeguarding important possessions.
