KITCHEN TOUR – N.O. Homes & Lifestyles Magazine/ Tara Shaw

The kitchen of Dan and Melinda Haeuser seems like it’s right out of an Italiante villa, despite its Lakeview origin and creation by architect and contractor Stephan Chauvin. Featured recently in the 2009 edition of Great American Kitchens, the 420-sqaure-foot space’s standout is the marble-topped kitchen island purchased in the French Riviera by Tara Shaw. In fact most of the kitchen’s attributes are Old World touches: The refrigerator is covered by 18th century Italian armor door fronts; the kitchen sink cabinet is an antique buffet; there is a carved French mirror behind the sink; and the antique hood is an antique panel from a French library, depicting a Renaissance plaster bust peering from a Baroque wooden plaque. The countertops are new, however, done in a highly polished quartzite, and the Jerusalem limestone flooring with an antique-edged treatment is new, as well.
